NAI Board of Directors Adds Expertise on Digital Ad Infrastructure, Risk Management, and Connected TV; Alan Chapell Will Serve as Board Chair, Ileana Falticeni as Vice Chair
Board includes members with experience in adtech, policy, and legal sectors
WASHINGTON, DC (February 25, 2022) – Today, the NAI announced that 14 industry leaders with deep knowledge and experience in advertising law, compliance, technology, product leadership, and privacy regulation will comprise its Board of Directors. The Board of Directors governs NAI’s work to promote privacy, trust, and accountability in the digital advertising industry.
“The NAI Board of Directors includes experts with long NAI experience as well as new members who will offer fresh perspectives on the digital advertising ecosystem,” said NAI President and CEO Leigh Freund. “Our board members are a key catalyst for our successful collaborations across the digital advertising and privacy spaces.”
Alan Chapell, Outside Counsel Privacy Advisor at Eyeota and Board Chair, has worked with dozens of premium adtech and martech companies as outside counsel and privacy advisor. He founded the privacy program at Jupiter Research in 1996, and later helped develop DoubleClick’s research product suite. He founded Chapell & Associates in October of 2003. Alan is a member of the New York bar and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional.
Ileana Falticeni, General Counsel at Quantcast and Vice Chair, is an expert in navigating complex regulatory environments during times of industry change. Overseeing global Legal, Policy and Privacy matters at Quantcast, Ileana has over twenty years of experience in data, technology and privacy, many as General Counsel in Silicon Valley and previously as a Legal and Compliance executive in the financial services industry. In addition to participating in NAI industry initiatives, she is a Board member of IAB Europe and participates in several digital advertising self-regulatory initiatives including IAB TechLab and the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA).
Dana Edwards, General Counsel at the Engine Group and Board Secretary, is coming to the NAI board with a background in the advertising industry, first at Interpublic and currently at Engine/EMX Digital. Dana brings experience in both finance and law. Dana is the General Counsel and Chief Privacy officer of EMX and holds CIPM and CIPP/E certifications.
Ken Dreifach, Outside Counsel at AdRoll and Board Treasurer, is a member of ZwillGen, PLLC, a law firm specializing in privacy, marketing, internet, and ad tech law. Ken is completing his second term on the NAI Board of Directors on behalf of AdRoll. Since 2000, Ken has served in a variety of high-profile roles across the data governance and privacy landscape-as a regulator, a General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer, and as outside counsel to a range of web-based, mobile, and “offline” data companies. He frequently appears before the FTC and State Attorneys General, usually on behalf of ad tech companies.
Brooks Dobbs, Data Privacy General Manager at The Trade Desk, is an industry veteran who has worked in digital privacy for over 20 years. He previously served as the Chief Privacy Officer for KBMG/Wunderman Inc. He has served twice on the NAI board, including serving as its first Chairman. Dobbs has worked in many self-regulatory, public policy and privacy enhancing technology areas including the initial NAI code, numerous W3C initiatives, the IAB EU’s Transparency and Consent Framework, and ongoing work to make Unified ID 2.0 available to the broader ad tech ecosystem.
Rachel Glasser, Chief Privacy Officer at Magnite, specializes in appropriate data collection and use in digital advertising technologies, data management and optimization, compliance with privacy laws and regulations, and data privacy education. Rachel is responsible for Magnite’s overall compliance with various data privacy laws and regulations using the GDPR and emerging US laws. Prior to her work at Magnite, Rachel was Chief Privacy Officer at Wunderman Thompson.
Paul Harrison, CTO and Co-Founder, Simpli.fi, holds the position of Chief Technology Officer. In this capacity he drives and oversees the development of Simpli.fi’s proprietary technology. Prior to Simpli.fi, Harrison served as Chief Technology Officer of Collective. Previously, he was a founding member, President, and Chief Technology Officer for Personifi, where he set the technological vision for the company. He has founded/held key leadership roles at numerous entities including Mejoris, Lexica, InsureZone, and MedNet Connect and has also been on the NAI board since 2019.
Ghita Harris-Newton, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google, leads a team of public policy experts dedicated to supporting Google’s Ads and Commerce businesses. She has over 20 years of legal and policy experience with expertise in digital advertising, privacy, and technology. Ghita’s prior roles include Chief Privacy Officer and VP of Legal at Quantcast, Assistant General Counsel and Global Head of Privacy Law & Privacy Policy at Yahoo, and Associate at Hogan Lovells.
Ashwin Navin, CEO and Co-Founder of Samba TV, has spearheaded a revolution in the way video content providers and advertisers connect with their CTV audiences. Since founding Samba TV in 2008, the company has become a global leader in first-party data for Connected TV (CTV) and omniscreen advertising and analytics. Samba TV’s software is integrated at the chipset level into 24 of the leading, global CTV brands, providing first-party insight into viewership data across broadcast, cable, over-the-top, and digital media from millions of devices across the globe. The company’s AI-driven tech stack and comprehensive, highly accurate first-party data drives connectivity and discovery across viewers, brands, programmers, and platforms.
Matt Novick, Chief Operating Officer at Place IQ, has led Privacy, Legal, and Compliance for Place IQ for nearly eight years. In addition, he served in the same role at two prior startups, Persado and Magnetic. In all cases, Matt has taken on the task of understanding, developing, and adapting the company’s privacy initiatives, staying ahead of industry changes, and acting as an advocate for safe practices by participating in many industry events and conferences such as NAI, IAB, IAPP, and others.
Karen Miller Reese, Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer at Yahoo, leads a global privacy, cybersecurity, and data strategy team of attorneys, privacy and policy professionals, and technologists in support of Yahoo’s worldwide privacy program. Prior to leading Yahoo’s privacy program, Karen was a commercial transactions attorney at AOL. Karen brings over twenty years of experience in digital media and advertising, technology, and intellectual property to the NAI board.
Tamera Reynolds, Associate General Counsel N.A, GroupM, is responsible for strategic technology and data partnerships, data privacy and compliance across GroupM N.A. and the GroupM specialty businesses, including Xaxis. Reynolds joined GroupM from Xaxis, where she served as VP, Global Legal Counsel for over 3 years. Prior to joining Xaxis, Reynolds served as VP, Business and Legal Affairs at Mode Media for over 8 years. Reynolds also co-founded a digital media and lifestyle website targeting African American women and served as COO and a Board Director. Tamera brings 20 years of legal experience across multiple disciplines including digital advertising, data and technology, and has served on the NAI Board since 2020.
Blane Sims, Chief Product Officer at Tapad, leads the team building open infrastructure for interoperable identity in the post-cookie world. A seasoned product leader who previously led the product organizations at MiQ and Signal, Sims has brought privacy-by-design into multiple identity, data, and consent management products. While at Signal, he worked closely with the NAI as the company became a member. Sims has spoken at multiple conferences on the technical aspects of privacy and has participated in industry efforts focused on the next generation of consent signals.
Alexia Tomazos, Head of Legal and Business Affairs at Outbrain, specializes in the online advertising technology industry, having had a leading role at LoopMe acting as General Counsel. Tomazos has led global teams and worked with multiple stakeholders to ensure compliance across complex jurisdictions. Tomazos has led Outbrain and LoopMe’s global privacy programs, ensuring that customer and user transparency are at the forefront of these programs.
